Haha I remember trying to do this boat when I was small. I could never understand what to do in the final step, the book I was using didn't explain it clearly enough. I got so angry not being able to do it that I took my incomplete boat and just turned it inside out. And that's how I learned how to make this boat :D

That's a great idea!! Personal gifts are the best. I've made this boat and others with nice origami paper. Then strung them with gold or silver thread to make Christmas tree ornaments, which I gave as gifts. I've also used origami to decorate the outside of gift boxes. My cousins were always excited to see the origami (which served as a gift on its own because I made frogs that would jump, etc.). They'd say, "I know who this gift is from!" It was fun.

Thankyou for that i got it first try, I barely have any money to get my friends xmas presents so im making and origami swan attaching a bit of ribbon to it and connecting it to an origami boat, ill decorate them with my friends name and "merry christmas" and in the boat put a homemade chocolate from a christmas icecube mould in with their name iced on wrapped in cellophane Cheap and personal thanks x

I'm lost right when the video fades at 03:36. I've folded it in two "so you can't see any white" but then when you fold it into quarters I do the same thing but end up with something different after the fade...

  23. HUGH Says: January 8th, 2009 at 19:11:36

it is very hard to make with super small origami paper. does n e 1 know of a place to get the bigger origami paper, but a little cheaper in texas, mainly around carrollton or dallas
  24. Willis Says: January 8th, 2009 at 19:34:35

My friend Kyoko taught me how to make this boat back in 3rd grade. Luckily, I never forgot it, because it is one of my favorite origami forms.
