Yeah, I just picked a random image from a search engine to use for this video. I've long since turned the library CD back in and didn't have the actual cover to scan.

actually, i recently found out that the cover that's shown here with the young(er) heinz holliger is not the same album as the dittersdorf piece that's played and heard here. the album shown is just mozart and strauss. still very nice though.

I get most of my CDs from the library. Most librarians can get CDs in from other libraries if they have good contacts. Then you can just rip it off the CD.

At least 7 of Dittersdorf's Oboe Concerti have been recorded (I have all 7 of the ones I know of), but this is my favourite one (and my favourite version)! I'm not sure how many of Dittersdorf's concerti for any instrument have survived; much of his music has been lost. Gratefully, several of his operas still exist, and the ones I have recordings of are superb!! Also try his string quartets, along with his operas, I think his best work.

I love oboe music, and stumbling upon this rare concerto by just as rare of a composer was quite a find! I had only heard of Dittersdorf because of Kreisler's works based on his style. I actually ordered a Salieri CD of for oboe music and this came on it as well, thank goodness!

I have almost every Phillips recording of Holliger, when I was 13 teen I wanted to play like He. I am new here , maybe later I will give on my site my Mozart Oboe Concerto. My parents are oboists too. His tone is very clear , in his youth he had a claere tone, maybe a different sort of reed than he is using now. I can't see any of today oboists to hold his oboe school. I like Juan Manuel Gonzales Lumbreras and Olivier Doise, Doise is a prefect oboist. I like french school even I am a Slovak. Bye

His sound is amazing, isn't it? I think he's second only to Leon Goossens. But, it's a very close second.
